About This Project
This project involved designing and deploying a fully functional Mailroom Dashboard for managing package deliveries and pickups in a residential setting. Built as part of the CIDM 4360 coursework at West Texas A&M University, the dashboard is a practical SaaS solution that streamlines mailroom operations, improves accountability, and enhances resident communication.
Project Overview
The Mailroom Dashboard was developed to address common challenges in residential package handling: tracking deliveries, identifying unknown recipients, and ensuring timely pickups. The system provides a centralized interface for mailroom staff to manage package status, log carrier details, and monitor resident interactions.
Key Features
1. Real-Time Package Tracking
Packages are categorized into:
- Pending Packages: Arrived but not yet picked up
- Unknown Packages: No matching resident found
- Received Packages: Successfully picked up and logged
Each entry includes carrier info, tracking number, arrival/pickup time, and actionable buttons (e.g., “Mark as Picked Up” or “Return Package”).
2. Summary Statistics
At the top of the dashboard, key metrics are displayed:
- Pending: 5
- Unknown: 2
- Received Today: 0
- Returned: 6
- Total Packages: 29
This gives staff a quick overview of mailroom activity and workload.
3. User-Friendly Navigation
The interface includes intuitive navigation for:
- Adding new packages
- Viewing unknown or returned items
- Accessing history and email notifications
The system is designed for speed and clarity, minimizing training time and maximizing operational efficiency.
4. Resident-Level Detail
Each package is tied to a specific resident and unit number, ensuring traceability and reducing the risk of mis-delivery. Unknown packages are flagged for resolution or return.
Impact
The Mailroom Dashboard delivers a clean, efficient, and scalable solution for residential package management. It demonstrates my ability to build production-grade interfaces, manage backend logic, and deploy real-world SaaS tools that solve operational problems. This project reflects my strengths in Django development, user experience design, and workflow optimization.
